Let the children help you make this refreshing drink. Begin by having everyone wash their hands. Cut an orange in half and remove any seeds. Let the children take turns pressing it onto a hand juicer. Measure ½ cup juice. (Squeeze another orange if there is not enough.) Pour the juice into a 2-quart pitcher. Cut open and squeeze a lemon. Measure 1 tablespoon juice and add to the pitcher. Squeeze limes to measure out 3 tablespoons of juice and add it to the pitcher. Pour in two cans of apricot nectar (11-12 oz. each). Mix well and chill. Serve in small cups. As the children enjoy the punch, draw attention to the color. Thank them for their hard work in squeezing the juice and talk about how good the punch tastes.
Note: You can continue letting the children use the juicer to juice each citrus fruit. This is great fine motor work!
