(More...)You Will Need: - blankets
- small plastic sleds
- dolls
- stuffed animals
Children can work together to give sled rides to dolls and stuffed animals.
- If you have snow, gather a couple of small plastic sleds, and if the weather allows, go outside for this activity.
- Offer dolls and stuffed animals. Encourage children to place the dolls or stuffed animals on the sleds and push them through the snow. Do not allow children to push each other on the sleds, as they are not yet old enough to do it safely.
- If you do not have snow or sleds, you can do this activity inside. Have the children help you spread out some of the shredded paper from the Make It Snow activity (see Related Activities) to create snow. Offer blankets as sleds. The children can place their dolls or stuffed animals on the blankets and pull them around.
- As the children play, talk about how it feels to push or pull the sleds or blankets. How do they think the dolls/stuffed animals feel?
- Help the children share and take turns with the materials. Invite the children to help you clean up at the end.
Observe: Do the children share their thoughts about what the dolls/stuffed animals might be feeling? Invite children to think of ways to comfort the toys (or a friend) in case they are feeling sad.
Review Suggestion: Bring out the Snowman Stack Early Learning Materials for the children to use again (see Related Activities).
