You Will Need:
  • music

Play music and invite the children to dance. Stop the music, and invite them to flop onto the ground. Demonstrate, as needed. Start the music again and have them dance again. Repeat shutting the music off and having them flop to the ground.

Older Toddlers: After they are familiar with the game, invite older toddlers to think of other movements instead of flopping. For example, when the music stops everyone can jump or touch their toes.

Observe: Do the children participate in this movement activity by dancing actively? What other movements do older toddlers think of besides flopping? Challenge children to stretch before and after dancing.
