You Will Need:

Suggested Props
  • shape puzzles
  • assorted shape toys

Possible Interactions

  • Offer shape puzzles for shape review. Include those with jumbo knobs to support easy handling.
  • Set out additional shape toys such as sorters, shape lacing cards, sensory shapes, activity mats, and textured board books. Offering a few different items will support opportunities for shape recognition and allow children to use different fine motor skills.

Observe: Notice how the children problem solve as they use puzzles, shape sorters, lacing cards, and other similar toys. What actions or techniques do they try? If you observe a child getting frustrated, ask questions to help the child come up with possible solutions.
