Things to Talk About: Introduce the new theme. Print or show the Frog Topic/Spanish Card (see Resources). Ask them to name the item pictured. Ask, "What is a frog?" A frog is an amphibian, which means it lives in water and on land. Turn the card over and introduce the Spanish word for frog, rana (RRAH-nah). Most frogs are green or brown in color, but some frogs have brightly colored skin. A frog's eyes and nose are on the top of its head so it can breath and see when most of its body is under the water.
Things to Do: What sounds do frogs make? Has anyone ever heard them singing in the evenings? If possible, find a recording of a frog croaking on the Internet and play it for the children. Invite them to mimic the frog sounds. Introduce the sign language symbol for frog (see Resources).
