Count the links. *Developing:* Read the directions on the mat, and invite each child to follow them. *Proficient:* Observe the number path together. Ask, "What number is two spaces before five? Number Five Math Activity Mat (see Resources)
paper
writing tools

Print and bring out the Number Five Math Activity Mat and place it on a tabletop (see Resources). Ask children to identify the number. Underline the English and Spanish word for five. Complete the rest of the activity according to the children's skill levels:
