Possible Interactions
- Hats come in all sorts of colors, shapes, and sizes. Offer books that show a variety of hats and explain their uses.
- Read books that use hats as vehicles to explore matching, counting, singing, rhyming, etc.
- When you encounter a safety hat in a book, reference the Vocabulary Card (see Resources) to help children distinguish between regular hats and those needed for safety.
- Winter is on the horizon. Gather books that explore winter symbols. Talk with children about how to prepare for the winter season. What will they need to wear? What are they wearing currently to stay comfortable outside?
- Take winter books outside and look for items showcased in illustrations.
Always preview books to ensure they align with the needs and values of your group.
