Family Engagement

Encourage families to join children's learning process.

Greeting/Welcome

Welcome children with unique greetings each day.
  • Greet each child with a warm smile as you invite them into the room. Many children can be hesitant the first few days and stay close to the parent/guardian bringing them.
  • Help each child find their assigned cubby, coat hook, etc. Labeling each with a name and a picture will support children in identifying their own.
  • Sing a welcome song together.
Daily Review

Review concepts or recall children's favorite activities.
  • Review friends' names with the children to help them learn who everyone is.
  • Recall body parts with the Two Little Hands Nursery Rhyme Story Prop (see Related Activities).
  • As children become familiar with your setting, review daily routines, rules, and expectations. This will help them to feel secure and know what is happening next.
